องค์ความรู้เกี่ยวกับแมงกะพรุนพิษ
กรมทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่ง (ทช.) ได้ดำเนินการสำรวจ ศึกษาชนิดและการแพร่กระจายของแมงกะพรุน ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2553–2563 ครอบคลุมพื้นที่จังหวัดชายฝั่งทะเลอันดามัน และอ่าวไทย รวม 22 จังหวัด ยกเว้นกรุงเทพมหานครและจังหวัดพัทลุง พบแมงกะพรุนประมาณ 32 ชนิดในน่านน้ำไทย ประกอบด้วย ในกลุ่ม Cubozoa หรือแมงกะพรุนกล่อง 9 ชนิด แมงกะพรุนในกลุ่ม Scyphozoa 18 ชนิด และในกลุ่ม Hydrozoa 5 ชนิด แสดงใน ตารางที่ 1 ทั้งนี้เป็นแมงกะพรุนพิษหรือสงสัยว่ามีพิษจำนวน 9 ชนิด เป็นแมงกะพรุนในกลุ่ม Cubozoa หรือแมงกะพรุนกล่อง 6 ชนิด ได้แก่ Morbakka sp. A, Carukiidae (unidentifiable), Chironex indrasaksajiae, Chironex sp. A, Chiropsoides buitendijki และ Alatina morandinii (Alantinidae) แมงกะพรุนในกลุ่ม Scyphozoa 2 ชนิด ได้แก่ แมงกะพรุนไฟ Chrysaora sp. และ Pelagia sp. และแมงกะพรุนในกลุ่ม Hydrozoa 1 ชนิด คือ แมงกะพรุนหัวขวด Physalia sp. (รูปที่ 1 และ 2) ทั้งนี้ความเป็นพิษของแมงกะพรุนที่พบในน่านน้ำไทยแสดงใน ตารางที่ 2
