Declared Areas

Twenty-two marine national parks have been announced under the law, with total area of 6,256 square kilometers (as shown in Figure). The six marine national parks are in the Gulf of Thailand covering the area of 1,379 square meters, and the sixteen marine national parks are in Andaman Sea covering 4,877 square meters (As shown in Table).

Currently, four marine national parks are under the declaration process which will cover a total area of 419 and 229 square kilometer in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea, respectively.  The proposed national parks include Thansadet-Pha Ngan National Park (Surat Thani province), Hat Khanom - Mu Ko Thale Tai (Nakhon Si Thammarat province), Ao Ma Naw-Khoa Tan Yong (Narathiwat province) and Mu Ko Ra-Ko Prathong in Phang Nga province.
